Durable, Easy Clean Hard Coat for Metal Surfaces
With variants for highly polished metal and brushed metal TPD500 can make most metal surfaces highly scratch resistant and easy to clean.
Scratch-Resistant, Easy-to-Clean Protective Coating for Metal Surfaces
TPD500 is a one-component solution forming a thin, highly transparent clear-coat on metal substrates. Based on nanotechnology, the optimized composition of the organic-inorganic matrix provides easy-to-clean properties with excellent scratch resistance. TPD500 is a ready-to-use formulation compatible with various application processes such as spraying and dipping. TPD500 coating provides excellent cleanability, reducing the formation of stains and fingerprints, while preventing scratches on the coated surface due to its hardness. The extremely thin TPD500 coating, less than 100 nm, is highly resistant to chemical and environmental exposure, including high humidity, salt corrosion, UV-light, and temperature changes without degradation of performance. TPD500 coating is an excellent choice for metal surfaces that come into contact with the elements and need more durability and resistance to dirt. It also has a high temperature stability, keeping its properties even in high and changing temperatures.

Technical Background
The TPD coatings eliminate cosmetic distractions such as scratches, fingerprints, and degradation due to environmental conditions. The ultra-thin coatings furthermore enhance the touch feel of metal surfaces, feeling smooth and natural. Optitune’s patented siloxane nanomaterials result in a matrix, where the chemical functionality is controlled on the molecular level yielding a homogeneous and durable coating structure, resulting in a metal surface that lasts longer against wear and tear.
How to Apply
Typical application process for TPD is either a spray or a dip coating followed by thermal curing which binds the coating into the substrate material. The viscosity of the solution can be adjusted to fulfill the ready-to-spray conditions of an automated industrial coating line. The metal surface should be clean and free from dirt and grease before applying the coating. TPD formulations designed for other coating processes such as slot and roller techniques are also available upon request. Both IR and convection oven heating are suitable for thermal curing.
